Bright Start For DDJays In Women Soccer League

The game was played before a capacity crowd composed mainly of the residents of the low- income location of Gerald. It marked the start   of the women’s league in Francistown. Reteng Banyana took the lead in the dying minutes of the first half, through Phindisani Monyamba.

The striker took advantage of confusion in the DDJays defence to blast the ball home.

After the break, DDJays players, came back a changed side but found the homeside a hard nut to crack till the equaliser came in the 60th minute through lanky midfielder, Malebogo Buka.

After the goal, Reteng Banyana went on an all-out offensive with no nonsense defender, Ruth Onalenna Lekopa spearheading the attack.

However, her efforts were not rewarded and proved fatal. Her forays forward led a gap at the back that DDJays exploited with deadly consequences. It came as no surprise when the exciting Nomsa Otsetswe shot the visitors into the lead in the 71st minute. With coach, Rapelang Muleya urging his girls to go for it, dribbling wizard Amantle Segwabe made it 3-1 in the 89th minute with a header that was helped in by Reteng Banyana’s Motlalepula Bokani. In an attempt to clear Segwabe’s effort from the line, Bokani headed into her own net.
