Mothei gets lifeline to vie for Mahalapye East

Party president Duma Boko suspended the former Gaborone mayor in 2012 after he and two others openly criticised the BNF for joining hands with the Umbrella for Democratic Change (UDC).

Their view was that BNF could do better in partnership with the Botswana Congress Party (BCP).

For now BNF has one council candidate Timothy Mmopi at Mookane ward in the constituency.

Mothei believes that his party will do well in the coming general elections if they stick to their strategic plan.

Mothei will challenge current MP Botlogile Tshireletso of the Botswana Democratic Party (BDP).

In the last elections the BNF got 2,428 while the BDP sailed home with 5,178 in Mahalapye East.

However, Mothei believes that with the number of potential council candidates the party has, the vote can go BNF's way.

He said all the six wards have their own campaign managers and work in the constituency was promising.
