Former newsreader in court over love child

The former Radio Botswana newsreader has been accused of denying her ex-lover access to the five-year-old child. She is set to appear at Broadhurst Magistrates Court.

In an affidavit, Chako Gaotlhobogwe Chako claims that Tabudi has refused him access to see his child and to take part in their son’s childhood. He claims this is depriving his child of fatherly love. “The child will be socially and emotionally affected in the long run because he will grow up without having experienced the fatherly love perhaps not even knowing who his father is because they do not spend time together to bond,” said Chako.

The love affair between the two started in 2005 and ended in October 2012. Chako said that in October, he sent Tabudi a text message asking to have the child for the weekend so he could take him to Lion’s Park. He said he got a negative response from the mother of his child.

“On October 28, 2012 I went to Kopong to check on my son. Tabudi was not home and left her phones. I took my child and went with him to Gaborone. At around 10pm, Tabudi phoned and made threats that she would report to the police for abducting her child and I did not object. She later phoned when she was at my gate that the police refused and had told her that a father cannot abduct his own son,” explained Chako.

He claimed that Tabudi had made threats that she would use her position in the ministry to mess and change his life for good.

“She made threats that she is so powerful, and works in a highly dangerous ministry, with deadly officers who can mess and change the life of any species within a second,” said Chako.

He stated that on October 31, 2012 Tabudi phoned his mother and said she can make up a story so that he goes to prison. The case will be heard by magistrate Gennai Jensen on March 26 this year.
