Gantsi BDP looks to divinity

In the same vein, issues of cheating and other problems that have marred Botswana Democratic Party (BDP) primary elections, dubbed Bulela Ditswe, have prompted some women in Gantsi constituency to urgently call for divine intervention in order to quell the fires within the party.

Nominated Councilor Sethunya Ramoswaana revealed in an interview that she and other women in Gantsi decided to hold the prayer session especially those candidates who lost in Bulela Ditswe.

She said they have also invited all women who won for the prayer so they could give them strength. The prayer session is the first of its kind in the whole country.

“We also want to pray and forgive all candidates who cheated us during Bulela Ditswe because it is very clear that we were cheated though I can’t go into details now about what really happened,” said Ramoswaana.

She added that though she cannot go into details, she has written a letter to the Region to appeal the results of Bulela Ditswe but her appeal was rejected on the grounds that it went to the region instead of the branch committee.

She further said the prayer session will also be for President Ian Khama, the BDP National Congress that will be held later this year, for BDP women standing for elections and most importantly for the general elections to be held this year.

Quizzed as to why she decided not to be an independent candidate as it is the norm with some losers in Bulela Ditswe, Ramoswaana said the idea once crossed her mind but she decided against it as she is a staunch BDP member and will remain loyal to it.

She also said the next prayer session will be in Tsabong and hopes that they will conduct same in all the 57 constituencyies, urging all women to attend.

“It is during this sessions that we will request women to contribute a small amount which will be donated to destitutes, orphans and pensioners in my ward.

This district has many challenges and it has many of the people that I have mentioned above,” she added.

Ramoswaana was confident that after the prayer there will be positive change within the party, lamenting that there are many people in the BDP who are out to destroy the party.

She called all churches to rally behind them during their time of prayer. The prayer is scheduled for March 15.
