'The Journey' explores different genres

Motladiile’s album offers that relaxed feel good vibe on a day one wants to take it easy.

The seven-tracked album boosts of Setswana filled lyrics with only the title track The Journey in English. The introduction song Mma Mokwetla has a commanding inviting feel that is complemented by the guitar strings and less vocals.

With the song Molete it is obvious that Motladiile has still not lost touch with her borankana side. Molete is a fast paced song that only runs short of the clapping of hands to complete its flavour. Another to look out for in the album is Senganga that clearly showcases Motladiile’s vocal ability.

Despite the good sounds in Motladiile CD,the sleeve needs a facelift.

A black and white cover does not do much justice because usually the colour composition needs more space to communicate. Many might overlook the CD and mistake it for one of those cheap gospel albums. The singer told Showbiz that when working on the album, she had elderly people in mind because they are the ones who appreciate jazz.

The Ramotswa born explained that she used Setswana because the album is influenced by traditional music background.

Matlaadile plans launching the album sometime in April.
