Khama accused of abdication

Mabiletsa said it is a pity that they have differences on the budget but Khama fails to attend Parliament to respond on their queries.

The Kgatleng East legislature said that he had an opportunity to work with former presidents, Ketumile Masire and Festus Mogae and that they consulted the National Assembly on challenges facing the country. However, he said that Khama is different because he never attends the National Assembly ‘as if he is not a Member of Parliament’.  At this juncture the speaker of the National Assembly, Dr Margaret Nasha called Mabiletsa to order and told him to debate the budget and stop talking about Khama’s State of the Nation Address.

Concerning the challenges in his constituency he said that he has a problem with the decentralisation of services by councils, especially water in his constituency and that Water Utilities Corporation (WUC) fails to release water bills every month.

He said that in his constituency residents receive water bills after three months and that they cannot be accountable for bills that they do not know. Mabiletsa said that when they go to lodge complaints, the WUC does not listen to them.
