Nurse assaults pregnant ex-girlfriend

Mompati was charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

Mompati was dragged to the Customary Court by his ex-girlfriend Monicah Khwae, who is an accounts assistant, after allegedly assaulting her last year on Christmas day causing her to miscarry.

The Customary Court learned that the accused assaulted Khwae at his house after a heated argument.

Khwae said that she gave birth to a premature child who died a few days later.

 According to her, Mompati did not attend the funeral of their late child. She was carrying her medical certificates as evidence that the assault caused the death of their child.

Mompati later told the court that he did not want his case to be tried in the Customary Court but rather at the Magistrate’s Court.

He said that he wanted his lawyers to intervene in the matter.

He said that he has already contacted his lawyers after being given summons’ papers and was waiting for their feedback.

Raditladi told the accused that she would refer the matter to the Customary Court of Appeal who will determine if the case can be referred to the Magistrate’s Court.
