A
ward-winning diva Charma Gal, whose real name is Magadeline Lesolebe, says she is not bothered by rumours of an affair with fellow musician Mlesho (Lesego Lefatshe). Instead, her focus is on the upcoming Zimbabwe tour.
'I don't think it's (the rumours) a big deal, if I go around saying 'it was a lie' to everyone it will be difficult to work with other artists in future.
I just ignore those rumours. Mlesho approached us to work with us, but remember we have previously worked with Slizer. They are fighting their own wars which have spilt into our office,' she said.
Ironically, Mlesho, who went on a tour with Culture Spears in December, was in Harare last weekend to make preparations for Charma Gal's first solo tour of Zimbabwe.
Rumours circulating in the music industry are that the two hit it off during the December tour, something that did not go down well with Kabelo Mogwe, husband to Charma Gal.
However, Mogwe dismissed the allegations saying jealous people were peddling them.
'They are (always) waiting for something to say, they know we are doing well and just want to pull us down. These rumours will always be there, but they must be treated like rumours. I just keep quiet because I know they are out to destroy us,' Mogwe told Showbiz.
He further dismissed talk that he was in the process of divorcing his wife over the alleged unfaithfulness.
When asked about the issue, Mlesho was the most relaxed of them all, laughingly responding: 'I'm not sleeping with her; I was only on a tour with Charma Gal and people started saying all sorts of things.'
Meanwhile, the Chika hitmaker, Charma Gal, is excited about performing in the three-day event over Easter. A Harare music promotions company, Ghetto Fabulous, is behind the tour.
'It will be my first time with Eke Ntolo, I have been there with Culture Spears. I'm very happy; it's a great opportunity for me. I know they have been waiting for me since a long time ago,' said the promoter.
The upcoming tour will mainly focus on marketing Charma Gal as a solo artiste as well as her most recent eight-track album titled Chomi Yame.
Indications are that negotiations are also in progress to have her collaborate with other top local artistes such as Jah Prayzah and Alick Macheso in Zimbabwe. The latter is quite popular in Botswana, having worked with Slizer (Naledi Kaisara) before.
The tour will see her performing in different cities like Harare, Bulawayo, Beitbridge and Bindura so as to reach out to as many fans as possible.
Meanwhile, Culture Spears are set to perform at South Africa ruling party Africa National Congress (ANC) event in North West on Saturday.
Mogwe confirmed the engagement and said it was a big boost for them especially considering it comes at the start of a year.
