Omaweneno headman to appear in court

Bimbo (56) and others namely Phillip Hengari (39), Ditshupo Bimbo (29), Marea Chabanga (79) and Moses Hambira (70) will face two counts for knowing of an offence.
On the first count, the four are accused of becoming accessories. The offence is contrary to section 394 (1) as read with section 395 of the Penal Code and section 75 (1) of Wildlife Conservation and National Parks Act. On count two, they are charged with unlawful possession of government trophy contrary to sections 71 (1) (d) as read with 71 (3) of Wildlife Conservation and National Parks Act.
The accused had knowledge of the poaching of a gemsbok and acting in concert to conceal the crime. They acted in a common purpose on May 27, 2013 at Lokalaneng ward near Omaweneno village in Kgalagadi.
They knew that Modiri Bimbo, Kealeboga Bimbo, Simon Megano and John Kuruthu on May 25-26, 2013 poached the said gemsbok and hid it. With the assistance of Bimbo and others, the lot hoped to escape punishment.
The four accused persons, on May 28, 2013 at Herero ward in Makopong village, were caught with the meat. Inspector Berman July of Tsabong Police is prosecutor in the matter.
In another matter before Tsabong Magistrate Court, judgment in a predator smuggling case involving Kealeboga Gasejewe will be delivered on February 10, 2014. Attorney Venetia Moruakgomo represents the accused while Inspector Lovemore Johane of Tsabong Police prosecutes.
