Armed robbers get as little as two Nokias, P50

According to an eyewitness, the five thieves arrived in a white sedan that they parked in front of the shop. “Two men then entered the shop armed with what looked like a pistol and a knife and pounced on the middle-aged Chinese woman who was manning the store. A heated argument ensued before people ran for cover,” said the eyewitness.

According to the deputy commander of Broadhurst Police Station assistant superintendent Mpho Chanongwa, the two suspects ordered the woman to give them money and when she refused a scuffle broke out and the two suspects grabbed her handbag and fled. “According to the victim, she was alone in her shop when the incident occurred. When one of the suspects pointed his weapon she realised that it was not a real firearm but an air gun,” said Chanongwa.

Chanongwa said no arrests have been made yet.  Meanwhile, Chanongwa said police are still looking for two men who robbed a woman who was visiting a grave at Tsholofelo Cemetery last week at gunpoint. They got away with a mobile phone.
