Cash strapped Gunners, TAFIC set-up Trusts

Gunners’ spokesperson Mosimanegape Seitshiro admitted to Mmegi Sport yesterday that the club did not have money to run its affairs and sign new players.

Seitshiro said the supporters were against the privatisation of the club but rather suggested for its commercialisation.

An agreement has been reached to form a trust that will run the affairs of Gunners but people to be appointed to the committee still have to be identified.

Seitshiro called upon Gunners supporters to come forward and assist the team so that it can become competitive again.

The struggling Lobatse giants face possible relegation to the First Division League next season, as they lie 15th on the 16-team league. Seitshiro revealed that they were about to sign former Notwane defender Kealeboga Ramaabya and a player from Zambia, Shabby Nsungamali in a bid to change the fortunes of the team.

He said the delay in concluding the deal with Nsungamali was caused by his clearance from the Football Association of Zambia (FAZ).

Players who left the team during the current transfer window are Bogosi Mfila and Mponang Mponang who both joined Nico; Moathodi Ndana went back to BDF XI at the end of his loan period while Bobby Mathews is no longer with the side.

Meanwhile, TAFIC have also started a trust fund in a move aimed at solving the team’s financial woes.

In the recent years, TAFIC have been struggling for funding with potential bankrollers hesitating to pour money into the coffers of a club whose accounts are not being managed well.

The TAFIC interim committee chaired by Gilbert Makombo has decided to open the trust fund in order to help the management of funds. Ndawana and Company Attorneys are managing the trust fund that is less than a month old.

“There has been rampant mismanagement of funds at TAFIC, but I am not pointing a finger at anybody. We have concluded that a trust fund will solve the predicament we face at TAFIC,” confirmed Makombo.

Shathiso Nlegwa, a legal partner at the law firm confirmed that TAFIC had opened a file with them for the creation of a trust fund.
