Rollers managing director Somerset Gobuiwang told Mmegi Sport that the club was still discussing the incident and it is being treated as an internal matter.
He was not in a position to comment further on the incident. He said the relevant people with more information are those who were present when the incident took place.
It is alleged that the supporter, who had travelled from Mogoditshane, died at the Scottish Livingstone Hospital.
The fan is said to have hit a pole and fell, hitting his head against the ground.
Efforts to get a comment from the Molepolole police was futile as the station commander’s phone was off after he had earlier promised to give Mmegi Sport an interview. Botswana Police spokesperson Christopher Mbulawa said he was not aware of the incident. Meanwhile, Rollers is still at the top of the beMOBILE Premier League log with 41 points. The side bagged three points after beating BDF XI 2-1 over the weekend. Rollers has played 19 matches, won 12, drew five, losing two and finding the back of the net 30 times.
BDF XI remained third after the Botswana Premier League’s Disciplinary Committee’s decision to dock them six points after the club took a football matter to court.
BDF X1 has 35 points, four behind second-placed Mochudi Centre Chiefs, who managed a 1-1 draw against fourth-placed Gaborone United on Sunday.
The defending champions have won 12 matches and lost four. Chiefs have scored 34 goals, which means they have four goals more than Rollers. GU who were unlucky not to walk away with maximum points on Sunday has 35.
TAFIC are at the bottom with 15 points after a 5-0 drubbing at the hands of Uniao Flamengo Santos over the weekend. Extension Gunners beat Wonder Sporting to move to 16 points, the same as Santos.
