hursday night saw Orange Botswana staff members celebrating in style as they welcomed their new CEO, Philippe Baudin. The event, held at Botswanacraft, attracted quite a large crowd inclusive of top officials from different organisations who came to celebrate with the company.
The dress code for the evening was strictly formal and traditional as men and woman came looking their best. Spotted at the function and dressed to kill was CEO of Botswana Communications Regulatory Authority Thari Pheko, Botswana Telecommunication CEO Paul Tailor, Botswana Confederation of Commerce Industry and Manpower executive secretary Maria Machailo-Ellis, World Bank representative in Botswana Elene Imnadze and Chairman of Orange board Satar Dada.
Kick starting the programme was a performance by local traditional group Mafitlhakgosi that made quite an impression on the guests. The group that prides itself in originating from Naledi gave a splendid performance displaying their dance and singing skills. It was a perfect way of showing the new CEO that Botswana has talent in abundance.
Last month, Orange bid farewell toformer CEO Elisabeth Medou-Badang, who moved to head Orange in Cameron. Speaking at the event Dada mentioned that the recruitment of Baudin was guided by their determination to bring on board capable leadership with the ability to grow and transform the organisation.
'Philippe is entrusted with the mandate to implement the Orange Group's strategy, which is characterised by a strong focus on innovation, and effective cost management. Orange, as a profit making business, creation of value for shareholders comes as mandatory, and this is a task bestowed upon Philippe,' he said.
He added that expectations are that while at it, Baudin's leadership should build expectations of each of their stakeholders, more especially the employees in the achievement of his mandate.
Prior to joining Orange Botswana, Baudin was the CEO of Light Speed Communication in Bahrain. Under his leadership, the company achieved significant increase in customer base, net income and a strong growth in revenue.
The man of the moment, Baudin, mentioned that he was really proud and happy to be the new CEO of Orange. He pointed out that the company has interesting attractions that were prepared for its valued customers.
'In 2014, expect us to continue being friendly and always listening to our stakeholders and customers. This year Orange will continue with our mandate of partnering with communities across the country to address issues of health, education, culture and woman,' he said.
'End of this year two of our young and brilliant engineers will join the Orange talent sharing programme and will be attached to Orange operations in another country for a period of 12 to 18 months. As a result, after returning home the company and customers will benefit from their unparalleled experience,' he said.
Baudin joined Orange Botswana on December 4, 2013. He has been in the industry for over 30 years and has international exposure in various telecommunications, network and business environments including Europe, Japan, Middle East and North- America.
