Wilderness Safari guides gain international recognition

Bosigo is stationed at Wilderness's Little Vumbura in the Okavango Delta Camp. He has been a guide at the company for 20 years. He is instrumental in the training of novice guides working for the company. Ledimo who is among the young breed of guides in the Okavango Delta also works at Little Vumbura. He is described as a keen birder and an impassioned conservationist. Kagiso, who is based at Kwetsani Camp is one of the few female guides in the male dominated profession in Botswana. She is described as a soft-spoken and knowledgeable female.
She was the only woman in her class at the Maun Botswana Wildlife Training Institute. She graduated top of her class. Cond Nast Traveller says she resisted pressure from her parents to go into fashion design preferring to become a guide. Internationally renowned Zimbabwean journalist, Graham Boynton, compiles Cond Nast Traveller's top 25 safari guides list. Boynton spent 18 months travelling through the bush with guides in six countries to come up with the list of Africa's best safari guides. He is revered as an African stalwart who truly understands the importance of quality guiding. Wilderness Safaris' marketing director, Chris Roche said in a message posted on the company website that they 'are thrilled with this recognition of our guides who are the vital link between the intricacies of the natural world and our guests'. Meanwhile, Wilderness Safaris announced that the Mombo and Little Mombo camps in the Okavango Delta, Botswana have been listed in the US Cond Nast Traveller's 2014 Gold List, featuring the world's best places to stay. Cond Nast Traveller and its readers say, Mombo and Little Mombo's location near bush, plains, and wetlands means 'the game viewing is spectacular' and 'the scenery is pristine nature all around'. 'Phenomenal comfort' is the norm inside the tents, which are elevated into the tree canopy. The Gold List, renowned as the top ranking of the world's best properties, is compiled from the annual Readers' Choice survey.
