Monageng vows to stay put in BDP

Monageng told Mmegi that before the elections, he complained to the then party chairman, Samson Guma Moyo about the conduct of the branch chairman, Kabo Morwaeng. He accused Morwaeng of favouring and campaigning for Kwelagobe. He said Moyo felt that his concern was legitimate and summoned Morwaeng for a hearing.  However, he said, Morwaeng never turned up for the proposed hearing saying that he was busy with other party issues.

'I was surprised that when a party chairman summons a member, he does not take his orders,' Monageng said. He asserted that he cannot leave the BDP when he lost with a narrow margin and his appeal has high chances of success. 'I can't resign when I have made so many strides in the constituency. I can't dump so many BDP members who have voted for me. I want to dispel the notion that I was challenging the party chairman. I was contesting to enhance democracy.  Democracy encourages competition,' he explained.

He said he is contesting the Molepolole South constituency so that there will be no vacuum when Kwelagobe retires. He said the contest against the veteran has been a learning curve. 'I strongly feel that I will contest the next Molepolole South primary elections and believe I am going to succeed. Batswana have spoken, they have shown that they don't take me lightly,' he said, adding that the figures in the recent primaries vindicate him.
