Gunners spokesperson, Mosimanegape Seitshiro told Mmegi Sport that Mfila had disappeared and when they got hold of him, he informed them that he was in Serowe.
He said they only learnt that he was in Selebi-Phikwe after receiving a letter from Nico United this week requesting for his release. He said that they also wanted to sign Hendrick Moyo who used to ply his trade at BMC, but the striker joined Orapa United. Seitshiro said stakeholders at Gunners were concerned about the performance of the team and they wanted something to be done to avoid being relegated to the First Division next season.
Mapantsula have accumulated 13 points from 18 matches. The side has won three matches, drew four, lost 11, scored 11 times and conceded 20 goals. He said the team was in need of four strikers. Gunners have also parted ways with Mponang Mponang, Moathodi Ndana and Bobby Mathews. Mmegi Sport is reliably informed that the players were dismissed over disciplinary issues.
It has been revealed that the players allegedly stole towels at Cumberland Hotel and another player’s kit during a camp. Responding to the allegations, Seitshiro said Mponang had gone back to Township Rollers while Ndana had joined BDF XI after his loan elapsed in December. He said the players only used the towels to wipe mud from their trainers and did not steal them as alleged.
Meanwhile, Nico spokesperson Kgakgamatso Moreri confirmed that they had signed Mfila. He said they were only waiting for his registration book from Gunners.
He said they have also taken back their right back player, Onalenna Moalosi, who had been on loan to Miscellaneous. Moreri said they were negotiating with Mponang and they met with the player on Monday.
Moreri said it seemed like in the end they were going to sign Mponang. He revealed that they were expecting three players from Zambia on Tuesday.
