“We intend to continue with our plan of challenging for league honours. We are at an advantage because if we beat BDF X1, we collect 37 points which means we will be a point behind them. The intention is to overtake them and stay at the top of the log,” Bright said.
Bright was happy with the preparations that started at the beginning of the month despite the absence of Edwin Olerile who will miss the game due to suspension. Otherwise the team is injury-free. Bright said he had enough ammunition and the absence of Olerile would be easily plugged.
GU’s defence is not a porous one as evidenced by only 12 goals it has let through.
BDF XI coach Elijah Chikwanda will be guiding the team for the second match after taking the reins from Rasta Kgwengwenyane. The spirit of revenge will spur the soldiers on after succumbing to GU in the first round.
The former Nico mentor is not to be taken lightly as he turned Majombolo into a powerhouse last season, ending the campaign as runner-up.
But Chikwanda is under pressure to make sure that BDF X1 continue their good run and consolidate their stay at the top. BDF X1 have lost only two games since the beginning of the season.
Chikwanda said he was not in position to talk to the media and referred all questions to the public relations officer.
In another match to be played this evening, FC Satmos will lock horns with Notwane in Molepolole. Satmos spokesperson Mpendzeni Sambandawe said his players knew what was at stake.
He said at the beginning of the season, the strategy was to avoid relegation but now they were in competition mode and the idea is to finish among the top four. With the calibre of players the team has the intention is not far fetched
“Most teams in the Premier League follow the style of marking space and making runs, but we depend on individual brilliance and that has been working for us. Tomorrow we are going for maximum points. If a team takes us lightly we punish it,” Sambandawe said.
In other matches that will be played on Saturday, Nico will travel to Francistown to play against ECCO City Greens. Motlakase Power Dynamos will welcome Miscellaneous in Palapye.
Orapa United will be waiting for Township Rollers at Itekeng Stadium while Wonder Sporting will play against TAFIC at Molepolole Sports Complex.
In the only fixture for Sunday, Mochudi Centre Chiefs will entertain Santos in Molepolole.
