Ohilwe eyes Gunners after Vietnam deal falls through

BMC confirmed the development saying the Vietnam window had closed on January 5, making it impossible for the player to make his dream move.

The national team defender has since written to his club requesting to be released to join Gunners this month. BMC, who had already replaced Ohilwe with Tshepo Motlhabankwe, have met Gunners and talks are ongoing.

BMC marketing manager Nelson Radijeng said: “The Vietnam deal is as good as off because the window there is already closed and nothing has materialised. Musa has requested to be released to join Gunners and we are ready to do that.  “We are in the middle of talks with them. Ohilwe has six months left on his contract and should he fail to make a move, he will walk out of BMC as a free agent at the end of the season.

Meanwhile, the club has stepped up the process of changing their name from BMC to FC Rangers after the club’s former owners approved the move.

“It was a request that we change the name because we are marketing them and not getting anything from them. They have finally agreed that we go ahead and change,” Radijeng said.

He said they were still exploring the procedures involved in the move and hope it will not be too long before they have a new name. Businessman Esfandiar Ghodrati bought BMC from Botswana Meat Commission
