Nkaigwa unhappy with F/town fiasco

Adressing a full council meeting Nkaigwa said: “The decision to postpone these by-elections has cast some real doubts on the independence of the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC).

“The Democracy that has been our triumph card has been seriously compromised.”

Nkaigwa called on spiritual leaders to pray for the country’s leadership, as it needs God’s intervention in some of the decisions taken for the country.

He further criticised the government for the continued corrupt acts perpetuated by the country’s leadership.

He said Botswana is such a rich country, “but most of its people are poor, starting with you honourable councillors”.

“We live within a very dissatisfied society. Certain individuals continue to reap all the fruits that could be benefiting ordinary Batswana,” Nkaigwa said.

He said low salaries for Members of Parliament, councillors and civil servants result in the increase of corrupt practices.

“Bootlicking has now become a way of life. Batswana where are we going as a nation? We hear reports of construction of airstrips on private land using public funds.

“We need men and women who can stand up for this country and speak out boldly about these corrupt practices without any fear of victimisation.
