No plans to move World Cup from Brazil

The incident, which occurred on Wednesday, is the third fatal accident at World Cup stadium sites in Brazil, with two construction workers having been killed in the past two years.

The crane destroyed part of Sao Paulo’s Arena Corinthians stadium, where Brazil are set to play the opening match of the World Cup. An investigation into the cause of the accident will begin today.

Brazil has admitted it is struggling to get all 12 stadiums ready for the tournament. Six were used in the Confederations Cup, but six more are unfinished, with the World Cup set to kick off in 200 days.

However, the BBC reports that: “Senior sources within world football’s governing body continue to insist ‘there is no plan B’ for the World Cup.” (BBC)
