Liefy disappoints Batswana fans

Liefy had announced in an earlier interview her plan to launch her debut jazz album, It Is Egoli in the country following up her South African (SA) one.

“The Botswana launch is now postponed to early next year and it is going to be followed by a tour. I wish to apologise to my fans who expected to see me this year,” she said.

Liefy has said that the launch of It Is Egoli in SA has been a huge success. Speaking to Showbiz in an interview, Liefy said that the number of SA fans who attended the launch of her 11-track album pleasantly surprised her. The launch was held at Roxy’s in Melville, SA recently. “The venue was fully packed and I was shocked by the reception since I am a relatively newcomer in the industry,” she said.

Liefy further said that for the launch, she featured some artists from her record label as they too were launching the same time as she. Some of the artists who featured at the event included BC, Crismo D from the popular rap group, Cashless Society, Victor Paul, Snac Matic and DJ Lomwe.

According to Liefy, the response of the audience was encouraging as it was clear that they were lapping up the new offering.

“The people loved our tunes and kept on screaming for more. One of the songs they particularly liked was Kasi,” she asserted. Liefy further said that her record label has started distributing her CD and it is available at some of the leading music stores in SA.

“Now that my music is out there, I hope that people will get to know me better and appreciate my work,” she said.

Liefy said that she has already shot some videos for the album, which she expects to be aired on Channel O, Btv, Malawi TV and SABC adding that the album will also be made available to fans on her Facebook page, Liefy Jones.

Liefy comes from the Fisher musical family comprising of siblings Suggie who is a sought-after gospel musician, Bonnie, an Afro-pop/RnB artist and Charles, a keyboardist.

Before the release of her debut album, she had appeared as a backing vocalist for a number of local and international stars.
