After consideration of the circumstances currently prevailing around the planned poll in the Francistown West Constituency, the Acting President, Dr. P.H.K. Kedikilwe, has issued a proclamation postponing the poll from the 23rd of November 2013 to the 25th January 2014, having been satisfied that it is in the public interest.

The proclamation was issued, amongst other considerations, in view of a petition of a large numbers of voters in Francistown West Constituency.

It was further in recognition of the fact that the legal process currently pending before the High Court and the Court of Appeal has not been concluded.

The postponement does not amount to a withdrawal of the writ of election pertaining to the Francistown west Parliamentary bye-election and will not reopen the nominations of candidates, which can only be determined by ongoing legal process at the Court of Appeal.
