The minute she stepped onto the stage, the audience fell in love with her bubbly personality, but more than that they were mesmerised with her poetry.

The well attended show dubbed, 'To Get Free' opened with the poet and songbird accompanied by her crew. A combination of dance, song and a striking poem left the audience anticipating more. Mabutho explained that the idea behind 'To Get Free' is about encouraging people to discover their own freedom, but mostly to live their truths.

'What I am pointing out here is that if one lives by their own truth, other people will be inspired to live by their own truth. I am pretty sure that the world would surely be a better place,' she said.

The woman of the moment took the audience on a journey with her poetry as she told a story in each one, beginning with Rest.

In Rest she is asking all physical senses to relax so that love does all the talking. What followed was another amazing piece titled Spirit Seeker, which is a story about a character called Freedom.

'The story is about a love affair between a person and freedom, this person is trying to seek his freedom in the midst of a lot of issues.

They are finding it hard to accept other things,' she said.  Another piece titled Cinderella had many excited as Mabutho told yet another story of a girl chasing the Cinderella dream by looking for love in all the wrong places.

Other performing acts who managed to blow the audience away were invited guests from Zimbabwe who Mabutho described as her close friends.  She said that she met them while she was performing at the Harare International Festival of the Arts. Zim poet, Mybruthazkeepa did an exceptional job when he recited Back To The Pen with Mabutho.  The two complemented each other and spoke a language that only poets could understand.

The first set ended with a beautiful story told in the eyes of Marley-Joseph, which Mabutho described as an extract from a play, called City Of Joy, which she said will be launched soon.

'This is a theatre play that I have been working on and will be released soon so people should look out for it,' she said.

The second set started on a higher note as guest performers took to the stage. Quaint who is a well-known hip pop movement poet marvelled the audience first.

Zim poet and teacher, Ticha Muzavazi who collaborated with Mabutho on a song, followed him.

They performed an old but famous Setswana song called Mma Mmati, punctuated with a bit of beat boxing and the sound of the Mbira.

The song had many on the dance floor. The show ended with another song and poem To Get Free Conclusion.
