Satmos add to Notwanes woes

Sechaba dominated the first 20 minutes of the game before fatigue caught up with them. The visibly tired Notwane players failed to take advantage of the many errors committed by Satmos defenders.

Notwane travelled late to Selebi-Phikwe on Tuesday and arrived 10 minutes before the game after they left Gaborone around 3.30 pm. The players did not even warm up before the match.

The strike force led by veteran Tshepiso Molwantwa could have notched four goals before half time, but fluffed opportunities.

Notwane took the lead in the 14th minute through former Extension Gunners striker Othusitse Mahube.

The goal came after Kitso Tlhowe supplied a good cross from the right flank and Mahube easily tapped in the ball.

Molwantwa was the main culprit in front of goal, something that compelled the club supporters to call for his substitution.

Satmos levelled matters in the 45th minute through Patrick Kaunda.

In the second half Satmos piled pressure on Notwane and it was not surprising when leading beMOBILE Premier League scorer Kaunda got his brace in the 66th minute.

The goal came after good ball exchange between Troy Maziwisa and Kaunda.

Katlego Mpoeleng put the game beyond Notwane’s reach when he scored the third goal in the 88th minute.

After the game, Notwane coach Kagiso Kobedi praised his charges for showing some commitment despite the tough times the team is going through.

He said the players have gone for months without their salaries and they have not been training.  The coach revealed that they just play in order to honour fixtures. He attributed the poor performance of his team to lack of motivation and fitness.

He further revealed that for the game against ECCO City Greens they left Gaborone at 9:30 am on the day of the fixture.

“I am appreciative of my guys. I cannot leave this team because the moment I do, these players will also leave,” said the coach.

Satmos technical director Mooketsi ‘China’ Mading sympathised with Notwane.

Satmos coach Kgosietsile Jacob acknowledged that the game was difficult.

He said they expected Notwane to look for a quick goal in order to unsettle them, something they did.
