Nyalala launches Bakgatla TV to take on DStv

Taking advantage of the new digital platform of DTT, Bakgatla pay tv, the brain child of Moruleng visionary leader, aims to take the likes of DStv, and SABC  head on in the South African market and later Botswana.

Moruleng Kgosi Nyalala Pilane says they responded to an invitation to tender adding that Bakgatla TV were the only rural based tv to apply for a commercial license.  'We want to take them on (refering to DStv), we believe we can, if we did not believe, we wouldn't have attempted,' said Nyalala after the launch.

Already Nyalala has opened a television academy in Moruleng, training over 55 local residents who will soon be operating the station. But they have also hired experienced horses, mainly from SABC.

Nyalala sees the new television as the opportunity to tell their rural stories. He can't wait to receive the news that they have been given a full licence.  They are currently operating with a provisional, or trial licence, which he says was meant to allow them to showcase what they are capable of doing.
