Fashion Labels Battle In Sports

The clothing labels participating in the football extravaganza named Equality Cup include new entrant on the block the BW Space, All Kasi, known for dressing the national football team the Zebras, as well as clothing labels such as Monkey Class, Dilo-Dilo, the t-shirt and sweater makers, among others.

The Equality Cup tournament is an event that comprises of both sports and fashion and showbiz.  The teams that mostly participated are well-known clothing companies in Botswana. The event whilst portrayed largely as a sporting event is some kind of fashion competition of who can make the best kit on the day.

All Kasi went out of their way to impress and were voted the best dressed team of the event. The team made yellow jerseys for its players and Orange replica jerseys for the supporters and technical team.  Speaking to Showtime Ludo Kemoeng of All Kasi stated they want to grow the brand internationally and this was just the beginning of what new products they offer.

Team Groovy Soul which was largely made up of music Dee Jays also did their best to impress fashion-wise. 

BW Space which specialises in making shirts for both men and women featured  local rapper Scar amongst their technical team and were dressed to impress, with their black and yellow kit.

Also taking part in the showcasing was On'em a relatively new clothing company making t-shirts and caps.  It is owned by Titus Bogatsu  and made a big impression with their fancy looking wear that turned heads.

On the music side DJs seemed to want to outdo each other on the day.  With so many beautiful young women on the night there was no reason to guess why!  It was DJ Phouboy and DJ Lexx who rocked the crowd the most just after 8pm.  The duo played a brand of both old house music and the latest house music with a bit of hip hop for the women who were 'twerking' on the dance floor.

The other DJs  who impressed included DJ Cashmoney, DJ Dizzy Dee, DJ Styles, DJ Gee The King, DJ Element, Urban House Beats, DJ Lexx, DJ Abu Dhabi, DJ Chew, Unanimous, DJ Rexx, DJ Lewizi, DJ Bakito and DJ Seeme Deep.

From morning till after midnight, all the DJs played a brand of house music mixed with hip hop and kwaito.  It was DJ Chew who wowed the crowd when he played Sister Betina once a hit in the year 2008.

The tournament featured a total number of 16 teams, twice the number from last year.  The teams that made the tournament up were Dilo Dilo, Kurapt, Skinny Guy, Groovy Souls, CharmerBoi, BW Space, Run Gabz City, Dlala, Monkey Class, All Kasi, On'em, Akoomin, Moflio, Poetry Khona, Lehipi, and TruBallers.

Of all the 16 teams only four were to progress from the groups and those were Monkey Class, BW Space, Skinny Guy and On'em.  BW Space beat Skinny Guy 3-0 during their semi-final and Monkey Class beat On'em 1-0 on their semi-final.

 Renee spoke to Showtime and expressed delight at winning the award saying it's a reflection of her effort in practicing for the tournament. It was DJ Lexx and DJ Phouboy who stole the show. The two partnered on stage during the semi-finals of the show.

Organiser of the show, Moses Tembo, hailed the event as a success and praised the team saying they put in a good performance.  He also stated that next year's event will be bigger than this year's. 

One of the girls who played in the tournament, Phatsimo Baruti, said she hoped next year's event will be for charity because that would give a good cause to the good tournament.
