Motswana woman to head Stanbic Bank Africa unit

 

According to a statement, the move is in line with Stanbic Bank's active involvement in spearheading a culture of skills development. 'Stanbic Bank, in line with (the) Standard Bank Group, has a philosophy to identify talent in any of the 17 franchises,' says the statement, quoting Stanbic Bank Botswana MD, Leina Gabaraane.

'Outstanding individuals are provided an opportunity for further career advancement. Jessica meets the set criteria.' Tasha Ferreira, Stanbic Bank Executive Director, says Gadimang has exhibited such versatility, tenacity and maturity over the years at Stanbic Bank Botswana that she attracted higher accolades.

Gadimang's new role will expose her to the governance structures of both Corporate and Investment Banking (CIB) in South Africa and the rest of Africa. The statement says she will be given a platform to develop her product, risk and coverage networks and an opportunity to visit key presence markets in Africa.

At Stanbic Bank, she has been credited with the development of incisive Corporate Banking (CB) strategies in line with market demands. 'Her dream of setting up world-class CB standards drove her zeal. In 2006 she was awarded the Stars Award by Standard Bank in recognition of exceptional contribution to the Bank,' the statement says.

'Her natural flair for banking, coupled with good judgment and intellectual curiosity, made her an ideal team player. Well done,' says Stanbic Bank Botswana Public Relations Manager, Ruth Modisane.

One of Gadimang's major career highlights before joining Stanbic Bank was winning the most prestigious award of Stars of Africa & the Middle East in December 2004 in recognition of outstanding performance within Barclays Bank PLC Group. In 2005, she was seconded to Barclays Kenya in recognition of outstanding performance to the Group.

Jessica holds a Master of Business Administration Degree from De Montfort University in the United Kingdom (2006) and is also an Associate of the Institute of Bankers - AIB - (2001).

She has been in the banking sector for more than ten years.
