Suspected Kanye killer dies in police cells

The suspect was detained, together with three Zimbabwean illegal immigrants, who were then released to immigration officials for deportation.

The police say he remained alone in the cells for about one hour forty-five minutes and when they checked at around 10.45am he was found hanging. The police have commenced investigations into the death. Since September 2008, there have been six reported cases in Kanye suspected to be the work of a serial killer.

The killings took place at Ruele, Sebako, Botlhoko, Sebego, Ntsweng and Mafhikana wards. The latest murder occurred early this month.

The police have appealed to anybody who may have information on the matter to contact the nearest police station.

Police spokesman, Near Bagali said they have cast their investigations throughout the country hence they cannot quit even though a prime suspect has committed 'suicide'. 'We still believe that there might be others out there, hence our investigations are continuing,' Bagali said. The police have offered a P50,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of the suspect(s).
