BDP Nkange in the hunt for ward candidate

The party has confirmed that the Nkange north council aspirant, Nelson Tsayang, handed in his letter spelling out his reasons for withdrawing his candidature.

Tsayang says he wants to concentrate more on church duties. The Nkange parliamentary candidate, Edwin Batshu declined to comment

But the BDP executive secretary, Comma Serema, confirmed Tsayang's withdrawal from the council race. Serema said they tried to talk to Tsayang but currently the Nkange north branch is seized with the matter. 'The Nkange branch will report back to us on Monday next week,' revealed the executive secretary.

Botswana Congress Party's, Dema Jersey, trounced Tsayang by a large margin in the 2004 general election. Jersey garnered 467 votes to Tsayang's paltry 76 votes. It is race against time at the Nkange branch as the BDP is working day and night to find Tsayang's replacement.

It is understood that all the candidates who lost against Tsayang during Bulela Ditswe primary elections declined to stand for the ward.
