The weekly Friday performances at Btv auditorium have now come to an end, until next year when a new show gets under way. There was no doubt the show had become a hit with its crowd who would gather at the Btv auditorium every Friday to be entertained by their hosts of celebrity wanna-bees.
It has not been a star-studded show throughout, granted. The crme-de-la-crme of this year's show undoubtedly have been the top four performers who lined up against one another this past Friday.
The grand finale will be held on July 10, where the top 10 in this year's show will perform, but it remains to be seen whether the asking price of P300 per person will achieve the desired effects. This week fans will determine the winner by sms votes.
That the Btv show enjoys notable following is not in doubt though. The Btv auditorium last Friday was fully packed as the last four contestants in the show took a final bow leaving the crowd in full satisfaction on a rather chilly night.
The hall was teeming with fans as early as 8.30pm as the producer of the show Master D, first treated the revellers to some live reggae performance, by himself.
Fans seemed to have been torn in two as to whom they want to exit the show but suddenly they burst into hilarious joy when it was announced that crowd favourite Kitso Selato and the evergreen Dineo, would remain in the finals.
The stage was left for Bonno and Naledi to battle it out in song competition to decide which one would remain in the top three final. The afro-hair singer Bonno was the first to belt out her tunes as the crowd cheered, but the heavily talented singer somewhere forgot lyrics in her first song, while she confessed in her task song that she had run out of lyrics.
The crowd still appeared satisfied with Bonno's delivery.
They did not know what Naledi was going to do next. The girl went wild on stage. The huge crowd seemed to excite her and they gave her back what she deserves, the love, the wild cheers. Few local professionals would have matched her stage performance that night. It was not surprising that when Naledi was finally done, fans roared in appreciation of her performance.
It was a well-rehearsed show for Naledi who could transpose her vocals simultaneously with the instrumental provided by the producer of the task song.
Once the judges concurred that Naledi should remain in the finals, the shows that followed did not count much. It was a celebration for the singers, and grand entertainment for the revellers.
Dineo performed Destiny's Child's Survivor with precision, as her fans joined in the chorus and danced around the packed hall. No doubt she showed yet another talent - that she can sing so well a song which is performed by a group, as she would switch her pitch in between to the amazement of the revellers. However, the talented singer should not have tried to imitate those Beyonce Knowles' on-stage antics. That is not her area.
The only remaining male singer in the top three, Kitso, seemed to take the game to another level with the female folk unable to resist his rendition of Marvin Gay's Sexual Healing. In fact, one of the Mystar judges, Kgomotso said Kitso's rendition made her recollect some of her great days as a teenager at Molefhi Secondary School in Mochudi.
Naledi was to close the show with an energetic Chaka Khan song she dedicated to the women in the house.
