Ever green Muvhango star shines

The queen in Muvhango took the congregation to a higher spiritual level when she performed one of her favourate songs, Holy. As a born again and devout Christian who is yet to record her first album, Vho-Susan is a regular visitor to Botswana during gospel crusades and conferences.

Though she has never done any training in acting that could have opened her path to television stardom, Vho-Susan took up a role in the popular Venda drama after she was spotted by the producer who felt she had talent. But indeed, she did not disappoint as she cut a real picture of how the queen should behave. She said the role she plays has given her experience before she gets married and has learned that a woman should always stand by her husband. However, she does not picture herself being married to a chief. 'I do not like protocols and rules, they just rub me the wrong way. I am a traditionalist, but I do not want the tradition to be forced on me.'

She is no longer thrilled and amused to watch herself on television as a new actress would do, but she instead blames herself and regrets what she should not have done.
Vho-Susan hails from South Africa's Limpopo province and is the only surviving child. Her father and elder sisters have passed away. She started singing at Sunday school at the age of four and always loved music. She believes that Botswana is a land of opportunities and promise. 'Spiritually it is fulfilling because everyone is ready to praise and worship God.' Other than acting Mahuwa is a preacher and motivational speaker. She owns a company called Omega Construction Company.

Another gospel group that featured on the weeklong spiritually uplifting conference was Twins with Vision, which comprises twin brothers Sandile and Bandile Bazibuko, who were born in Swaziland. The two landed in music in a miraculous way as a calling from God.

They started singing in 1994 in a junior church choir before starting a group called Shalom Singers comprising members from of different denominations. According to Sandile, their singing career started off after he had a vision about God using the duo.

Like Apostle Paul's experiences on the road to Damascus, 'We were travelling and I could see a lot of fields all over and God said to me: 'I am sending you'.' As he tried to narrate the vision to his twin brother they realised that they were speaking the same language as they both had the same visitation.' Twins with vision was born out of that and it was fully established by the time of God's calling. Sandile said the name was given by God.

They recorded the first album in 1998. This came after they performed at a crusade in Polokwane where one woman sent by God blessed them with money for recording the album. 'God put messages in all the songs we sang in the album and it hit double platinum.' They released a second album in 2000 and the third one in 2006. They are currently working on a new album: God set the time, which should be out this year. He added that their prayer and desire 'is to preach the gospel and save lost souls'.
