BIUST Unveils logo

'We are being futuristic because we know this project is going to happen. We want to establish an institution of the highest calibre. We must start on the right footing so that nothing goes wrong which might end up costing us thousands of pulas to change perspectives of people,' said Minister of Education, Jacob Nkate, at the launch.

The founding Vice Chancellor of BIUST, Professor Kweku Bentil said each of the elements in the selected logo is symbolic of the mission of BIUST. He indicated that the atom represents the scientific research focus of BIUST while the cogwheel represents the technology focus.

'The burnt orange color represents the sunshine of Botswana as well as its engineering focus, burnt orange is the color of the academic hood used by engineering programs on academic regalia,' Bentil said. He also stated that the blue and white in the centre of the atom is the flag of Botswana being propelled throughout the country and the rest of the world. 'The presence of the flag also signifies the pride of BIUST of its home, Botswana,' he stated.
