The former Township Rollers' coach is reportedly hard at work, preparing the Zimbabwean Premier League team for the new season. Nico United public relations officer, Matlhale Malepa said Ndlovu was supposed to start work at the club last Tuesday.
At the time, Malepa said there were finer details to be ironed out with the coach.
When Ndlovu did not show, caretaker coach, Peter Muchina guided the team to victory over the weekend.
Muchina is now expected to be confirmed as the substantive coach as talks with Ndlovu seem to have fallen through. The imminent return of Ndlovu had reportedly sparked interest from Gaborone clubs, one of which had already made an offer to try and lure him away from Nico. But Highlanders' sponsors seem to have given Ndlovu a deal that he could not resist and the former national team player decided to stay in his homeland. In an interview with Monitor Sport, Malepa said Ndlovu had not turned up and the club was not aware what was holding him up.
Malepa said the two parties had a verbal agreement. He said Nico United is not in a hurry to get Ndlovu as Muchina has proved that he can do the job.
'We are waiting for Madinda because we have an agreement with him.
But if he does not turn up, it is not an issue because we have got Peter Muchina,' Malepa said. The Zimbabwean media reported this week that Ndlovu was in camp with Highlanders outside Bulawayo.
Nico parted ways with Ndlovu in December after the coach said he wanted to concentrate on his business in Zimbabwe.
However, after a poor run of seven consecutive defeats, the Nico management coerced Ndlovu to return but the talks seem to have collapsed and Muchina is now expected to guide the team to the end of the season.
