The Fat Boy Challnge sees the station's fat presenters going through a gruesome schedule of weight loss and the presenter who loses the most weight is crowned the winner.
Kgosi Kgosidintsi lost 6kg, followed by Tshepiso Ditlhabi who lost 4kg. The station manager Dumi Lopang lost 3kg, and Owen Rampha 2kgs. The radio station says seven weeks into The Challenge, 20 listeners won themselves tickets to join the Yarona FM crew on the weight loss challenge.
Instructors sponsoring The Yarona FM Fat Boy Challenge 2009 were Chyna's Kata-Bo, Energym Fitness Centre, Sister H Nursing Services and Nature Care Botswana.
Yarona FM chiefs also say they recently donated groceries to the Bontleng Home-based Care Centre with proceeds from last year's Yarona FM Fat Boy Challenge. The event raised P4, 000.
The Fat Boy Challenge is a concept turned into an annual programme that was conceived to encourage youth to adopt healthier lifestyles to avoid obesity and circulatory diseases like diabetes and hypertension.
During the weight loss and weight management programme that runs for four to eight weeks, participants seek corporate and individual sponsors to make financial pledges towards their efforts and the funds raised are donated to a charitable organisation or initiative, at the beginning of the following year's Fat Boy Challenge. Gaborone Central Member of Parliament (MP) Dumelang Saleshando also graced the event.
