E ke ntolo is an engaging DVD because it contains songs featuring some of Kulenyane Studio artists and a hilarious comedy starring Ramozala (Thembeni Ramosetha).
The first part of the DVD kicks off with Chika, sang by Charma Gal aka Magdeline Lesolebe of Culture Spears fame. The track is about a new dance style that the artist declares has driven the nation crazy and Lesolebe who has lost remarkable weight gets to show off her well-toned body in it.
The next song, Zimba, has got a strong rhumba beat to it and it is performed by Kabelo Mogwe also a well-known Culture Spears lead male vocalist. The hand of Joe Maseko can be felt in the production of this track in which the artist decries the high standard of living in the city.
Mma Nnana is a wedding song by Lesolebe who proudly declares that like other women of her village she has married away her daughters the more recent one being Mma Nnana.
Ocean Gal follows with the equally engaging Jealous, which takes a swipe at jealousy in general including xenophobia. In the track, the artist urges fellow Africans to stop being jealous of one another as this could only breed hatred and other negative things.
Perhaps the song Kgomo ya Metsi by Mantshwabisi of Mantshwabisi fame is the most outstanding song in the album. The twins lament about having aborted their brother's wedding by letting a cow that was going to be used in marriage negotiation go loose.
The choreography in the song is good and the video was spiced with a bit of drama featuring the notorious Ramozara.
The second part of the DVD is Ramozara featuring Ramosetha as the old man who visits his son Mozara in the city of Gaborone.
The old man is dazzled by his son's achievements and wrongly believes that he is the richest person in the whole city. The hilarious Ramozala and his son have a love-hate relationship that is sometimes strained by the former's over the top antics.
Ramosetha, who also happens to be part of Culture Spears, is a good actor and he is likely to make it as a comedian although some of the jokes in the DVD become tired. This seems to suggest that Kulenyane Studios should have engaged a good scriptwriter.E ke ntolo runs for more than 120 minutes, making it a worthy buy indeed.
