There are no plans to construct a fire station in Kweneng District during the current National Development Plan (NDP10). The district will however, propose for the construction of the fire station in the next plan, said Assistant Minister of Local Government, Kentse Rammidi.

He was responding to a question by the MP for Mogoditshane, Patrick Masimolole who wanted to know when the ministry intends to establish a fire station in the district.

No Monthly Allowances For Athletes
Monthly allowances for local players in the Premier League and First Division (North and South) have not yet been introduced due to budgetary constraints, the Minister of Youth, Sports and Culture Shaw Kgathi said on Friday.'It had been intended that players in the Premier League would get a monthly allowance of P500,  while those in the First Division (North and South) would get P250. The allowances were meant for the general upkeep of the players,' he explained. The minister was responding to questions from the MP for Kweneng South East, Mmoloki Raletobana who wanted to know if the monthly allowances for local players in the Premier League and First Division (North and South) have been introduced.

Raletobana asked the minister if he was aware of accidents that have occurred and caused injuries during the inter-constituency sports competitions; and if there was medical cover for the players. The minister responded that: 'I am aware of some injuries that have occurred during inter-constituency sports competitions. There is no medical cover in place for players in constituency tournaments. Players are, however, encouraged to seek medical attention at various health facilities around the country whenever they sustain injuries'.

Minister Acknowledges Inconvenience Caused By Police Merger
The Minister of Justice, Defence and Security, Ramadeluka Seretse has said that he is aware that the transitional period in the merger of Botswana Police Force and the Local Police has caused inconvenience to the public and civic authorities. 'We are, however, doing everything possible to keep the inconvenience to the bare minimum,' he said. He stated that the police will continue to serve civil and criminal summons; provide security during criminal court cases; register livestock and hoist the national flag. He was responding to another question from Raletobana. He said the Tribal Administration will continue to administer corporal punishment; collect fines and compensation; and seize property in lieu of unpaid fines and compensation.
