Mazhihwo Nfila, who is a Pentecostal Christian, says that he was so inspired that he has pursued his music career since he was a child in primary school.
'My teacher was very passionate about music and that is when I realised that I had talent and I could make a living out of it (singing). My teacher was also a gifted singer ,' he narrates.
A Time to Worship is Nfila's debut album and he plans to have more. He says that he had challenges making this album because he wanted to use a live band. 'I had to get about 13 people together so I could make the ideal band for this kind of project,' he said. He further said that it is not easy to get many people together and do something for a common purpose but eventually he managed to get the band together from different churches and even different countries to sing the same tune.
'The band members are from different churches, not just my church, and also from different countries like South Africa, Zimbabwe, Zambia and so on playing some of the most fundamental instruments but we got together in this union to make this album,' he added.
Nfila said that because of the determination to release a live album the project took about seven months to complete. Nfila also says that his album had received a lot of support from other churches and concerts. He also says that he is trying to create a bug portfolio even for other countries and even abroad.
'We are growing and we want to take it to international standards as well,' said Nfila.
The album also has a remake of the old hymn Kereste Yo a Galaleleng and it is definitely something refreshing about the album. 'This is a big track so it took time to make it, really, because we did not know how to go about it. It was a challenge but it came to us and we made it,' he said.
He says that the title track We've Come To Worship is a concept that he has always had. 'I have had the concept for a long time but giving birth is never easy,' he said.
He added that the song is like a wake up call to him and every Christian as it was adapted from a Bible verse. 'It comes from John 4:23 and the scripture explains that the time is coming and is now when true worshippers will worship the Father in spirit and truth.
Nfila says that the track Zhuba, which is in Kalanga and Ndebele, is also one of his original creations. 'This is a track I am very proud of and it has proved popular even outside the country in Zambia and Zimbabwe. This track is simply saying everyday we love him and we adore him,' he said. He says that this track has inspired people everywhere.
