Charged for paying a fine?

Oduetse Moleele (25) was in court on Monday after he allegedly gave a fake driver's licence to a policeman in Tonota in September last year.

'I have already pleaded guilty to that offence and paid the fine and I am wondering why I am here today,' he said.

He told the court that he had a copy of the receipt showing that he paid at his home and that the police should have a copy. 'The police should have a copy because I paid the fine and got the receipt,' Moleele said.

State prosecutor Anthony Kebiditswe said he was not informed that Moleele was fined by the police and had paid. 'The investigation officer will have to come to court and clarify the matter,' Kebiditswe said.

Senior Magistrate Peggy Madandume set another date for mention and assured the accused that the matter will be clarified.

Moleele will appear again on September 17.
