No Cure For AIDS - Bothate Warns

He said these people were misleading the public.

He gave an example of an incident in Francistown in which ARV drugs believed to be of members of the congregation were found dumped in the bush. He said such churches should be de-registered for misleading the public.

Bothate also said that some cultural practices should be put aside. Such practices like Se-a-ntlo (when a brother is made to marry his late brother's wife after his passing).

Other practices such as boswagadi, he said, should be done away with.

He said that although traditional doctors have assisted in the past and continue to do so, they were however those who came from outside to only make money.

Bothate said these traditional doctors are not even known by the association that oversees them. Hence he said people should not go to these ones.

He said that all those in different sectors and in positions of leadership should join together to fight HIV/AIDS.

Bothate advised people not to discriminate against those living with HIV/AIDS.

The day started at six in the morning, with marches from different points in Gaborone culminating at the Stadium. The main celebrations were held at Letlhakeng in the Kweneng District.
