The director of the Criminal Investigations Department (CID), Wilmon Karihindi, revealed that the woman disappeared after learning that she was under investigation for stealing from her employer.
'She just vanished after realising that she was being investigated,' Karihindi confirmed. She did not appear in court on charges related to the alleged crime.
Karihindi did not say how much money was involved because he feared that could prejudice the state's case. On the list, she is accompanied by two Batswana men, Maritius Chauke and Sonny Mbaiwa.
Chauke is wanted in connection with an armed robbery that was committed in Francistown. It is believed that he was in the company of South Africans when he committed the offence. He escaped from police custody on February 2006. Chauke was facing a 10 year jail sentence.
Mbaiwa is wanted in connection with motor vehicle theft in Gaborone in 2002.
Before disappearing, Mbaiwa had appeared before a court in Gaborone when he disobeyed the bail conditions. He has been on the run since 2002.
Other most wanted fugitives from the SADC region are wanted for crimes ranging from theft to murder. There is another woman a Chinese Hong Wang Ann Shen wanted for illegal possession of ivory.
'Once your name appears on the Interpol wanted list, it means that whatever country you visit that is a member of Interpol, you will be arrested,' Karihindi said.
