Shock as BFA dissolves women soccer bodies

The former commission chairperson Senki Sesinyi got the shock of his life on Wednesday when he was summoned to the BFA offices to be informed of the dissolution.

Sesinyi who was reluctant to discuss the issue said no explanation was given for the decision though he has been made an additional member of the new commission chosen by BFA. Among the new committee members is past immediate chairperson Cynthia Kooitsiwe who is now the vice chairperson. Sesinyi said a lot is happening at the BFA and they have decided to keep quiet in the interest of football. He alleged that some people at BFA are abusing their powers. He warned that disaster is looming. He wondered how the BFA can dissolve the committees without consulting with the clubs that voted the officials in. 'We know that they have powers to do that but we are shocked as to how the whole issue has been handled. It is like someone thinks he has more power than the voters,' he said yesterday.

He added that this is not the first time that he has been given a letter of dismissal by the BFA. He told Mmegi Sport that he was sacked just a few days after he was voted in but he was reinstated soon after. Though he is not happy with the way things have been unfolding, Sesinyi said being relieved of his duties as chairperson came as a relief. He thinks his inquisitive character might not have gone down well with BFA administrators and that is why they have demoted him.

The Women League Committee chairperson Ishmael Mokome said he is shocked with the BFA decision to dissolve the body. He said they do not know where they stand. 'There was nothing wrong with them having done that but they could have just respected us and let us know of their decision in the right way,' Mokome said yesterday. He explained that a misunderstanding arose when they asked the BFA to help them with money from FIFA to finance the league. 'They said the money is for development and not the league. But how do we develop our game when we do not have grassroots teams,' he paused.

BFA chief executive officer Tosh Kgotlele did not want to discuss the issue saying it is still an internal matter. 'We are still doing our things internally and discussing them in the media will be unprofessional,' he said.
