The eloper, 37, was reportedly assaulted by members of the community who suspected him of being a thief after he allegedly entered a yard at Lephaleng ward at around 9pm recently. According to the police, the man knocked on the door of a house, but when the owner opened it, he fled, forcing her to scream for help. Neighbours and other members of the community subsequently gave chase.

It is alleged that they caught up with him and assaulted him severely. Lekgwapheng Police Station commander, Superintendent Mothosera Busang, confirmed the incident. He said the police rushed to the scene after receiving a report and took the injured man to Scottish Livingstone Hospital for medical attention. However, the man reportedly left Scottish Livingstone Hospital against medical advice whilst receiving treatment.

'We received the report of the matter, rushed to the scene, and took the injured man to the hospital, where he fled whilst receiving treatment,' Busang said. 'Investigations are ongoing, and we are currently looking for him.' Police investigations into the incident are ongoing as officers work to locate the man and establish the circumstances surrounding the incident.
