The event is set to take place at the Gaborone International Convention Centre (GICC) on October 24 from 7pm.
Titled: The Encounter (GIA 26), the recording brings a homegrown choir of 23 voices and a six-piece band together with Dr Tumi. The evening will feature new previously unreleased songs recorded live in front of an audience.
Hosanna Gospel Singers have already recorded with giants of gospel such as Benjamin Dube and Yanga Sobetwa. They have produced chart-topping songs including Gaufi Le Morena and Ke Ka Thomo. The group is a four-time winner at the Botswana Gospel Awards, with two live albums to their name and over four million views on YouTube. “We continue our collaborations as a way of value exchange and to put our local talent on the global map,” said Nico Matlapeng, Convener of GIA 26. “Expect a new sound. Expect new songs recorded live with Dr Tumi. It is a memorable encounter you don’t want to miss.” For his part, Dr Tumi said: “Botswana is home to me. My mother actually comes from Bobonong, and I can’t wait to come there. It’s a special time to collaborate with Hosanna, a force to be reckoned with that has been doing well in Botswana and across the region.
“We will definitely create something that will transcend the passage of time.” The production is a full-scale effort, featuring professional sound and video recording.
It is supported by GICC/Peermont and Motor Holdings Botswana.
