The event is designed to address some of the practical challenges entrepreneurs face when moving from an idea to a commercially viable enterprise. Transition Media, who are organising the summit, explained the summit was developed in response to a recurring gap within the entrepreneurial journey. In Botswana, they realised, that while many aspiring business owners have the creativity and ambition to start ventures, they can struggle to access the information, support, networks and opportunities needed to turn those ideas into sustainable businesses. Hence rather than focusing solely on motivation, the summit will bring entrepreneurs into direct contact with institutions, professionals and organisations within Botswana’s business ecosystem. The intention is to help participants better understand the practical requirements of establishing and growing a business, convenors said.

Founder of Transition Media and organiser of the summit, Munshya Libweshya, said their goal is to create an environment where entrepreneurs leave with more than inspiration. “We want them to leave with practical knowledge, meaningful connections and a clearer path towards building profitable, sustainable businesses,” he added. For the organisers, however, providing information is only part of the summit’s purpose. A major focus will be helping entrepreneurs understand where to find relevant support, who to approach and how to establish the connections required to act on the information they receive.

“Entrepreneurship requires more than a good idea; it requires knowledge, access, structure and the ability to make the right connections,” Libweshya said. According to the organisers, the Transition Entrepreneur Summit’s programme is expected to address areas including business formalisation, regulatory compliance, access to finance, branding, digital tools and strategies for long-term growth. The summit will also create opportunities for entrepreneurs to interact with one another, with Transition Media anticipating that these connections could lead to collaboration, knowledge-sharing and future business opportunities. Transition Media says its ambition extends beyond hosting a one-day event.

The summit forms part of a broader effort to contribute to an entrepreneurial environment in which creative ideas can develop into businesses capable of generating income, creating employment and contributing to Botswana’s economic growth. Further details on speakers, participating organisations and registration are expected to be announced by Transition Media ahead of the November 28, 2026 event, which will be held under the theme “Transforming Creative Concepts into Profitable Businesses.”
