Chiswaniso, Boifang scoop Zone VI Beach Volleyball title

The Botswana duo capped off their magical run by securing silver medals in the final leg on Sunday, finishing as runners up to Angola after a closely contested 2-1 defeat in the final. According to a statement from Botswana Volleyball Federation (BVF), the consistency and strong performances by Chiswaniso and Boifang throughout the series saw them accumulate enough points to finish as the overall champions. The achievements underlined their status as one of the region’s top beach volleyball teams.

Meanwhile, the young due of Baleofi Mosiiwa and Travor Manduwa continued their development on the international stage, finishing sixth in the final led and securing fifth place overall in the series standings. Vice president of Beach Volleyball for BVF, Pogiso Osupile, explained that the two teams were able to participate in all the five legs of the series due to the support of Botswana National Olympic Committee (BNOC) and National Sport Commission (BNSC).

However, he revealed that being part of the competition does not come cheap. He added that if BVF did not have support, it was going to be impossible to show up in all the series, with all the travelling, accommodation, and other costs that comes along. Osupile stated that Chiswaniso and Boifang’s journey continues for the World Championship and even to fight for a slot at the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games.

“It was not an easy series, remember that the duo faced a challenge when they were lost in the quarter finals in Swakopmund, and we viewed that loss as an important preparation hurdle. It exposed areas that need improvement before higher stakes championships,” he said.
