Gunners, Police take early charge

The Jungle Kings are currently sitting at the top of the league table with six points from two games following their 1-0 win over Matebele. The log leaders started their campaign with a victory over Morupule Wanderers and maintained their 100% record when they played Matebele over the weekend.

They have so far collected six points with a goal difference of three. Gunners are also on six points and only sitting in position two because of their inferior goal difference (two).

Gunners traveleld all the way to Selebi-Phikwe to face tricky Nico United side and a solitary goal separated the two sides, handing Gunners their second win in two games.

Their first game of the season was against Mochudi Centre Chiefs, a fortnight ago in which the Peleng giants also scored one goal and walked away with the famous victory.

The two positive results will come as a relief for Mapantsula supporters who have witnessed their side struggle to secure their Premier League status last season, only to miraculously survive in the last few games of the season.

Gunners have for many years struggled financially but look set to remain stable following the arrival of DC Tours as the main sponsors. Their next encounter is against Jwaneng Galaxy.

Sua Flamingoes, sitting at position three, also maintained their unbeaten run this season, despite playing to a 0-0 draw against Morupule Wanderers.

They have so far, collected four points from two games while Nico United sit in position four with three points from two games.

The weekend’s Premiership schedule was disrupted by heavy rainfall on Friday, which forced the match between Chiefs and Tonota FC to be abandoned.

At the time, the two sides were tied at 1-1 and the match officials decided to stop the game because of a water-logged Gaborone United stadium pitch.

Tonota are now sitting at position six with three points from one game.

Chiefs on the other hand, are yet to collect a point after losing the first match to Gunners.

Rollers and Galaxy are yet to kickstart their league campaign with Rollers having been given time to sort out their issue with registration of players.

Galaxy were this past weekend involved in CAF Confederations Cup while GU also played CAF Champions League.

Matebele are currently sitting at the bottom of the league table without a single point from two matches.
