Serowe couple found dead

Serowe Police Station commander, Superintendent Akimo Mlazie, confirmed that investigations into the matter are ongoing. He told The Monitor that the incident came to light after a neighbour became concerned with a foul smell coming from the couple’s house and the fact that they had not seen the two for several days. Mlazie explained that the neighbour then went on to look through a window of the couple's house and was shocked to find a woman lying on the floor, whilst her boyfriend was hanging from the roof rafters. “The 37-year-old man of Serowe was found hanging from the roof rafters, whilst the 31-year-old woman from Magwana Ward, Mmashoro village, was lying in a pool of blood, suggesting that she might have been stabbed with a sharp object,” he added. According to Mlazie, preliminary investigations suggest a murder-suicide incident. “We suspect that the boyfriend stabbed and killed his girlfriend before committing suicide,” he said. Mlazie added that the bodies were discovered in a decomposed state, indicating that the couple had been dead for some time before they were found. He said the couple did not leave behind any message explaining what might have transpired before their deaths. Police are continuing with investigations to establish the circumstances surrounding the deaths and determine what led to the suspected murder-suicide.
