Salakae insists sibling transfers, lodge claims remain unproven

'They have alleged that i gave my siblings P3 million or P10 million,” Salakae said when addressing his constituents this morning in Gantsi.
According to the former minister, the figures themselves have been inconsistent, shifting between P3 million and P10 million. He maintains that investigators have failed to present bank records, transfer documents, or any statements from the alleged beneficiaries to support the claim.
The sibling money allegation forms part of a wider set of accusations that have surrounded Salakae since the DCEC began probing his affairs. While the formal charges he now faces centre on the Ghanzi–New Xade road contract including claims he received P1.6 million, a vehicle and other benefits, the family transfer story has circulated in political and media circles without publicly documented proof.
Salakae has consistently argued that the DCEC has pursued unsubstantiated claims as part of what he describes as an 18-month campaign of harassment. He has not denied that the agency examined his financial affairs, but he insists the specific allegation involving payments to his siblings collapsed under scrutiny because no supporting evidence was found.
The DCEC has not publicly released detailed findings on the sibling transfers. In its recent response to Salakae’s broader accusations, the agency rejected suggestions that it weaponises corruption laws and confirmed only the formal charges linked to the road project and related money-laundering counts. Salakae resigned from Cabinet to focus on the legal process. He is scheduled to appear in court this week and again on 21 September,2026 in Maun. On the sibling-money claim, his position remains unchanged, the allegation was raised, investigated, and ultimately left unproven.
