The incident occurred whilst the three men were reportedly socialising and drinking alcohol at the entertainment spot, leaving one of the victims hospitalised in critical condition. According to Gantsi Police Station commander, Superintendent Motlamedi George, trouble started after one of the victims allegedly confronted the suspect over a pair of shoes belonging to him.

He said the police had established that before the stabbing, the suspect had allegedly taken one of the victim’s shoes.

“When the victim saw the suspect at the club, he allegedly approached him together with his friends, demanding his shoes back. A fight then broke out,” George explained.

He added the suspect allegedly produced a sharp object during the confrontation.

“The suspect allegedly stabbed two of them on their thighs and another one in the stomach,” George said.

“The two who were stabbed on the thighs were treated and released that same morning, whilst the 28-year-old man who was stabbed in the stomach was referred to Princess Marina Hospital, where he is currently hospitalised fighting for his life.”

The suspect reportedly fled the scene after the incident and remains at large. Police have since launched a search and investigation.
