Kearoma toasts 27 years in soul with Zambezi Soul

The KRH27: Zambezi Soul Album Launch & 27th Anniversary Gala Concert will be held at Avani Hotel & Resort under the theme Rhythm Through the Ages.
The evening promises to be a nostalgic journey through the music, fashion and culture of the 1960s, 1970s and 1980s, with guests encouraged to embrace the era in vintage-inspired attire, from afros and bell-bottoms to disco glamour and soul elegance.
Speaking at a recent press conference, Kearoma said the gala fulfills a dream she had carried for years.
“When we were growing up as children, our parents used to attend gala dinners and gala dances. So it just came to me that I’ve never really done that for myself. I’ve never had a gala concert,” she said.
The event doubles as the launch of Zambezi Soul, an eight-track album born during a period away from the stage. Kearoma explained that the quiet moments unexpectedly reignited her creativity.
“I found myself just starting to write and scribble, come up with some songs, creating some music, and then I thought, okay, let me go ahead and record again,” she stated.
She describes the project as a return to her musical roots.
The celebration will feature live music, jazz storytelling, tribute performances, DJs and a retro dance-floor experience. Joining Kearoma on stage will be Punah Gabasiane, Nnunu Ramogotsi, Nono Siile, Shanti Lo, Fifi Afrika and Thuto Rantao, with one of the night’s highlights expected to be a performance of Ina Lebe by Kearoma and Thuto.
Also attending the press conference was Shanti Lo, who recently celebrated his own 25-year milestone in music. He reflected on the lasting influence of the music that shaped their generation. “We all grew up in the 80s and 90s, and there was a lot of musical influence back then. At such an impressionable age, we were like sponges. I still know lyrics from when I was a child just from hearing songs on the radio.”
Hosted by Tshiamo Rantao t/a Rantao Attorneys, the event also introduces the KRH27 Patrons’ Circle, a philanthropic initiative supporting the Botswana Association for Psychosocial Rehabilitation (BAPR). Patron contributions will help fund the organisation’s work while celebrating Kearoma’s enduring legacy in Botswana’s music industry.
Adding another milestone to the occasion, Kearoma is also nominated at the Basadi in Music Awards in South Africa, making August 8, a defining day in her career as she celebrates nearly three decades in music with a new album, a landmark performance and continental recognition.
